Mike Chan Photography | About
Hello and thank you for taking an intererst in Mike Chan Photography. I'm Mike Chan Saevang a photographer from Sacramento and Elk Grove, CA.  In 2011, I founded this photographic company and it has since been flourishing. It has been a long time coming and I’m finally living my dream. I have always loved and appreciated the arts. As a kid, I wanted to be an artist or architect when I grew up. I loved to draw and paint, and I especially loved playing around with cameras and taking pictures. I have been learning and shooting for several years before Mike Chan Photography, but In 2011, with my first real Canon camera, I set off on this path and was determined to help those who appreciated the beauty of photography.

Three words that describe my photography is ROMANTIC, MODERN, and FUN. I try not to follow trends when it comes to taking pictures, editing and lighting. I like my images to look fresh and modern, but also a little traditional. I am inspired by fashion and travel photography. I shoot with a photojournalistic style, seeing how the day unfolds and capturing images that reflect it. I also know it’s important to have some fun on shoots, so I always make sure not to be a dud. I love weddings because of the celebration of love and unity with family and friends.

On a personal level, I am married with two kids. My loving wife, Jenny, is my biggest supporter. I couldn’t do this without her. She assists me on occasions. My oldest is a little firecracker. I’ve taken so many pictures of her, she thinks she’s a model now! My youngest son is a little sweet heart; a photographer in training. I’m also a home body, but I love spontaneous road trips, sight seeing, and visiting everything that is old and ancient.  My dream goal is to travel and eat!

Three things that people probably didn’t know about me: 1. I love to cook. I actually wanted to be a chef and open a restuarant. 2. I love the movies. In the summer months, you will find me at the theaters. 3. I love musical instruments of all varieties including ethnic. My favorites are the piano, violin, the Chinese erhu and guchin. As a child, I played the clarinet and killed it with the recorder! I also play a little of the piano and currently learning the guitar.

I love photography and creating images with my camera. I want to help you capture images that you can keep for years to come. Thank you for your interest and I look forward to working with you.
